Dr. James Yang has spent his career at the front line of chip design — in Silicon Valley, Taiwan, and beyond. AQLS is the outcome: first, practical EDA tools shaped by front-line engineers; then the same reliability standard carried into UAV aircraft and UAV mission systems designed and built in-house.

The engineer behind the tools
A chip design expert across networking, communications, and image processing.
Dr. James Yang is a chip design expert with experience across networking, communications, and image-processing silicon. After graduating from National Tsing Hua University in Hsinchu and the University of Southern California, he earned his PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering at New York University, where he worked on ultra-high-performance network routers and network security chips.
Before founding his own company, Dr. Yang served as a senior R&D leader at multiple chip design companies in Silicon Valley and Taiwan's Hsinchu Science Park. The teams he led delivered a number of significant products, including one of the industry's earliest network security chips.
He went on to found MicroIP Inc., where he launched an IP marketplace and a cloud-based collaborative chip design platform in 2015.
AQLS is the next chapter: chip-design veterans lead the architecture and a dedicated software team builds the tools. It began by turning decades of SoC experience into iPROfiler, Architecture Compiler and ETAL; its design service then focused on UAV-related silicon, and from there grew a UAV business that designs and builds everything from the chip to the complete system in-house.
UAVs demand more from a chip than most ICs do, because a single fault can cause serious consequences. That is why we hold our chip design and EDA tools to a higher standard — and why those tools serve general IC design just as well. What we deliver is not a drone, but one integrated solution from chip design to the aircraft to the complete system.
